Cookie Policy

This policy covers cookies and similar browser storage — including localStorage — that Gibraltar Unlocked uses. Some of it is needed for the site to work, some remembers your preferences, and some is analytics that only runs if you accept.

These keep the site functioning and cannot be switched off. They include your sign-in session, if you are signed in, and your cookie choice so we do not ask again.

Your cookie choice is stored as gib_cookie_consent.

These remember how you like the site set up, so it does not reset every visit:

rockbites_dark — whether you are using dark mode.

rockbites_lang — the language you prefer.

gib_splash_seen and gib_visitor_prompt_seen — whether you have already been shown the opening screen and the visitor-type question.

gib_visitor_type — whether you told us you are a cruise visitor, a day-tripper, visiting with family, or a local.

segment_order — the order you arranged the homepage sections in.

rockbites_favorites and rockbites_saved_posts remember the places and articles you have saved. They live in your browser only.

We would like to understand which pages people find useful. Analytics storage is off until you press Accept, and it switches off again if you later decline.

Declining analytics does not affect any part of the site you can use.

We do not currently set advertising or remarketing cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated and those cookies will stay off until you consent.

Some pages show images from Unsplash and embedded maps from Google Maps. Those services may set their own cookies or receive your IP address when their content loads. They are outside our control; check their own policies for details.

Press Cookie settings in the footer of any page to reopen the banner and change your choice. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, which removes everything this site has stored.

We apply UK and Gibraltar data protection law. Non-essential storage is used only with your consent, which you give through the banner and can withdraw at any time.
